Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Assembler A lays out and assembles complex bench assemblies involving precision sub assemblies and custom gear boxes having exact dimensional specifications and operating relationships; instruct assisting personnel on correct procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Includes the following, other duties may be assigned.
  • Read detailed blueprints, assembly drawings and routing sheets to determine product specifications, dimensions, required tooling and product layout. Determine assembly sequence.
  • Position parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled and/or blueprint instructions.
  • Perform skilled fitting, precise adjusting and aligning of parts and mechanisms.
  • Communicate with supervisor and the engineering department regarding product specifications.
  • Remove small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
  • Operate various bench type hand tools, power tools, and presses to modify assemblies to achieve required specifications.
  • Use micrometers, verniers and various other precision measuring devices to adjust and check dimensions.
  • Analyze assembly problems; notify supervisor of any operation or quality problems.
  • Operate a forklift and hoist to transport and move products.
  • Process all necessary documentation and paperwork for processes completed. Update computer records of completed assemblies.
  • Train and guide assisting personnel on assemblies. Verify the work of others to specifications.
  • Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
