
Assembly Operator

- Read detailed blueprints, assembly drawings and routing sheets to determine product specifications, dimensions, required tooling and product layout. Determine assembly sequence.
- Position parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled and/or blueprint instructions.
- Perform skilled fitting, precise adjusting and aligning of parts and mechanisms.
- Communicate with supervisor and the engineering department regarding product specifications.
- Remove small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
- Operate various bench type hand tools, power tools, and presses to modify assemblies to achieve required specifications.
- Use micrometers, verniers and various other precision measuring devices to adjust and check dimensions.
- Analyze assembly problems; notify supervisor of any operation or quality problems.
- Operate a forklift and hoist to transport and move products.
- Process all necessary documentation and paperwork for processes completed. Update computer records of completed assemblies.
- Train and guide assisting personnel on assemblies. Verify the work of others to specifications.
- Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
