Lastly, we offer several paid holidays and paid time off that includes personal, sick and vacation time.POSITION OVERVIEW:The CDL Class A Driver is responsible for delivering products to and from customers, company branch/warehouse locations, and company suppliers. Responsible for ensuring that deliveries are prepared to meet customer requirements in the most efficient manner, and materials are correct and free of damage. The CDL Class A Driver would also need to be able to load and unload trucks on forklifts and other heavy machinery. The CDL Class A Driver will report to the Shipping Manager if assigned to Brewton site or the Fleet Manager if assigned to the Theodore site.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Inspects company vehicle for visual and operating defects. Responsible for completing daily inspection reportKeeps company vehicle clean, serviced, and maintained. Alerts supervisor of repair and or service neededMust follow DOT, local and state driving laws and regulationsLoads or unloads vehicle: and ensures all material for each order is correct (quantity and parts) and that all material is free of damageMay assist in preparing orders for deliveryEnsures all appropriate documentation is thoroughly completed at the time of delivery, including delivery receipt is signed by the customer, packing list and branch/warehouse manifestPicks up material returns from customers. Responsible for inspecting the condition of the material and verifies quantities.Picks up/Drops off materials from vendors to have parts prepared for work needed prior to shipping and deliveryPicks up materials from company suppliersMay be required to support warehouse and shipping staff in preparing and filling orders and/or receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping materialOther duties as assigned by Fleet Manager or General ManagerThis is not a complete list of responsibilities or job functions-management retains the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any timeQUALIFICATIONS:3 years of CDL driving experience preferred1 year of CDL driving experience requiredMust have a Class A CDL driver’s license with no restrictionsMust be 21 years of ageMust pass a pre-employment and annual review of their Motor Vehicle Record, must have CSA scoreMust obtain verification of non-expired medical certificate as required by law by date of hireTWIC card preferred or able to obtain within 90 days of hireMust not have had their drivers’ license suspended for traffic accidents/violations or any at fault accidents in the last 3 years.SkillsStrong knowledge of safety regulations and familiarity of traffic and driver lawsWillingness to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures and transportation laws.Excellent time management skills, and ability to meet deadlinesExcellent customer services skillsAttention to detail, problem solving abilityAbility to work Overtime as neededBe able to sit, squat, kneel, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, and crawl.Be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally lift or move up to 100 poundsPreferred flatbed experienceKnow how to operate machinery or learn to operate forklifts.DISCLAIMER:The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
