- Manage detailed planning and design efforts for a wide array of water and wastewater projects, ranging from collection and distribution to treatment and reuse with particular emphasis on projects associated with municipal scale systems. Including, but not limited to a combination of the following: treatment plants and facilities, pipelines, pump stations, conveyance infrastructure, and storage facilities.
- Oversee work related to accepted engineering practices and techniques for water and wastewater treatment process and collection/distribution design.
- Manage and participate in the development of engineering reports and studies for water and wastewater projects including treatment and collection/distribution.
- Leverage existing, and build new, relationships to identify, position for, and pursue projects to maintain a backlog of work.
- Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
- May also be responsible for the cultivation of new and maintenance of existing clientele
- Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments
- Works on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features
- Prepares and reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
- Assists upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor
- Supervises all staff necessary to complete assignments
- Sets scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
- Prepares proposals to provide professional services under the direction of Principal Engineer
- Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters
- Represent company at industry functions and assume leadership positions when possible
- Conducts job performance evaluations
- Assists with recruitment
- Primary point of contact with clients and approving agencies
- Responsible for project profitability
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program
- Professional Engineer License from the State of California
- Valid California driver's license
- Continuing education as required for license and industry change developments
- 8+ years of industry experience with increasing levels of knowledge, responsibility and leadership requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong technical writing skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects
- Ability to design a complete project, system, component, or process
- Ability to formulate and solve problems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with specialized computer software: Autodesk Civil 3D, and various modeling software
