Job DetailsJob Location: West Park - Wilmette, ILPosition Type: Part Time Short TermEducation Level: Not SpecifiedSalary Range: $18.50 - $21.00 HourlyJob Shift: DayJob Category: MaintenanceDescriptionSUMMARY: The Parks Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing various manual labor duties and routine maintenance, including mowing, watering, planting, leaf and debris pick-up, snow removal, equipment operation, and all other tasks associated with maintaining Park District property.This is a PT1 position with Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), and the facility and program benefits are listed below.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform gardening activities, including planting and weeding, by hand or with equipmentRemoval of snow and ice from pedestrian and maintenance compound areas if applicableAssists with the organization, storage, and lock-up of all shop-related areas and items at the end of each workdayOperate Park District vehicles and equipmentOperate hand or power equipment to mow turf and maintain soil areasPlant, trim, and maintain plants, trees, and shrubsMaintain athletic fieldsPick up trash, empty trash cans, and remove from parksResponsible for the proper use and care of assigned equipment, tools, and suppliesPerform all work promptly and safely and with attention to detailKeep all related equipment and tools clean, maintained, and stored properlyKeep equipment storage and shop areas neat, clean, and organizedReceive regular verbal or written directions from the immediate supervisor or designated on-site supervisorCommunicate with other Park District staff, supervisors, and team leaders as neededActively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goalsPerform other related duties as assigned based on agency needSAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidentsObey the safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted by the departmentBecome familiar with and follow the safety procedures of the Wilmette Park District, including, but not limited to, fire, severe weather, and evacuation proceduresPromptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions observed to the immediate supervisor, Human Resources/Risk Management divisionAttend and participate in required safety trainingReport all accidents and incidents that occur under the area of responsibility to the Parks Services ForepersonQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
