- Conducts research, conceptualizes, and refines manufacturing processes, encompassing production flow, assembly techniques, and production machinery.
- Drafts and maintains detailed blueprints of structures and equipment.
- Manages the launch of new or updated products, sets objectives, trains team members, and evaluates outcomes.
- Develops staffing strategies based on production forecasts for new projects.
- Provides insights for product design based on manufacturing and assembly principles.
- Creates, evaluates, and justifies various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing techniques.
- Analyzes products and processes to identify cost efficiencies, enhance quality, and boost productivity.
- Establishes and documents quality systems for new projects (control plan, PFMEA, process flow, work instructions, and inspection plans).
- Coordinates and documents all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives.
- Calculates required dunnage usage, designs, tests, and orders necessary dunnage for new endeavors.
- Maintains comprehensive documentation on downtime, scrap, and operational efficiencies.
- Utilizes data analysis to devise strategies and solutions for equipment and process challenges.
- Leads or participates in Kaizen activities to drive continuous improvement across processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with Three (3) to five (5) years of engineering experience. Automotive manufacturing background preferred. Candidates with less than 3 years of experience may be considered for a Production Engineer level 1 role at a reduced salary.
- Must possess expertise in CNC machining and a preference for experience in plastic injection molding and automated high-volume assembly.
- Proficient in manufacturing processes, layout design, assembly techniques, and production equipment.
- Skilled in problem analysis and resolution.
- Familiarity with current automotive standards and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate teams to achieve objectives.
- Proficient in MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Access is a plus.
- Expertise in 2D/3D CAD software (Solidworks, AutoCad)
- Proficiency in GD&T principles
- CNC experience, ability to interpret G-code
- Background in Automotive Manufacturing, knowledge of IATF 16949 & ISO14001 standards
- Experience with Automation, Sensors, Vision systems, PLCs, 2D barcodes
- Proficiency with hand measuring tools: Caliper, Micrometer, etc.
- Project Management skills, exposure to Capital Expenditures, Vendor Management
- Knowledge of process capabilities (Cpk), process flow analysis, gauge R&R, and time studies
- Proficiency in fixture design
- Capability in Tooling Selection and Design for Lathes, Mills, Grinders, and Deburring machines
