
Travel Pathologist Assistant

- One year of recent experience as a Pathology Assistant
- Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
- National certification through ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW certifications
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
- Perform examination and dissection of specimens, ensuring proper documentation and processing
- Describe and sections specimens, applying appropriate fixation and processing techniques for microscopic evaluation
- Photograph and documents specimens, lesions, and tissue abnormalities for clinical and educational purposes
- Ensures proper labeling, accessioning, and tracking of all specimens to maintain accurate patient records
- Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
- Implement time management skills to optimize workflow and turnaround times
- Adhere to quality control procedures to ensure accuracy in specimen handling and documentation
- Assist with proper maintenance of equipment, provision of adequate supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is required
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Physical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
- Interpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
