- Maintain and encourage a safe work environment.
- Follow ISO / QS 900 & TS16949 procedures.
- Install and test automated processes within the plant. Work closely with Engineering to ensure the successful launch and absorption by the Plant of new programs.
- Maintain automation machines to ensure they are working properly. This may involve setting up the equipment, monitoring its progress, watching indicators to ensure working correctly.
- Maintain and repair software designed for maintaining automation. This may involve virus or bug removal; reinstall or redesign software. Responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of these processes. Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting on robots, PLC’s, die protection and related equipment.
- Train Plant Associates how to run the equipment / machinery and understand the process behind the construction.
- Maintain technical manuals and print instructions on the equipment.
- May be required to write manuals and instructions.
- Responsible to make sure operators completely understand the automated process to their job needs. Mentor Production Associates to assist in the upgrading of their operational skills.
- Correct completion of time sheets in a timely manner.
- Mandatory participation in housekeeping in all areas of plant on a daily basis.
- Assist in Continuous Improvement of a preventative and predictive maintenance program for Robots, PLC integrated equipment.
- Assist in the skills upgrade of Millwrights and Electricians as it relates to robotics and PLC troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
- Arrange for and work with outside sub-suppliers as required to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot automated processes.
- Utilize best practices in assignment planning to make the most efficient use of resources, time, and material.
- Post Secondary education in engineering (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Formal education in Robotics and PLC (preferred).
- Certificate from formal apprenticeship program.
- 2 - 5 years in Manufacturing environment, working in the same or similar capacity.
- Knowledge and experience in repair and maintenance of Robots & PLC.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and Purchasing.
- Must be prepared to discuss safety issues/concerns with Associates.
- Able to work effectively with all Associates at all levels of the organization.
