General SummaryThe SQL Server Database Developer improves the quality of data analytics to produce high-quality SQL programming for purposes of, but not limited to, SQL Integration (SSIS), Reporting (SSRS and Power BI) and to support business process.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Can articulate and complete a process of discovery to build understanding about enterprise user core systems (those with SQL Server foundations).
  • Can develop SQL Job automation schedules for data flows that maintain DW sources (dimension and fact and others) and maintain or change same, if required, to reduce contention.
  • Forward facing with the ability to work closely with all staff to understand business problems and work collaboratively toward solutions.
  • Be able to bridge technology capabilities with the business units and analysis requirements and being able to work closely with LTD BI Analysts
  • Will work towards Data and report related standardized reporting system and develop and maintain technical documentation for reference, future planning and disaster recovery.
  • Works well with and provides/accepts feedback from a team and brings in positive ideas that support business units with enterprise data foundations and reporting services. This includes peer checking of code
  • Will be a creative thinker who can translate business needs and produce required data objects.
  • Can take on new tasks and projects and see them to completion
  • Will work IT Help Desk tickets with database, SQL, and reporting issues and following those issues to resolution, with documentation.
  • Be forward thinking and have the ability to think about future data systems, capabilities, and trends as they apply to LTD.
  • Passionate about data, reporting, Power BI and helping staff, and about learning and expanding skills on an ongoing basis
  • Develop and maintain a report catalog.
  • Works within standards and supports forward thinking on data team administrative efforts (source control, versioning, documentation, etc.)
  • Manage confidential data, including HIPPA protected information.
  • Validate data, including frequent communication with users to assess confidence in reports.
  • Develop and implement long-term plans for report maintenance, documentation and data lineage.
  • Design performance metrics related to Power BI and SSRS usage as well as report adoption.
  • Performs related work as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position does not supervise others.
Fiscal Responsibility
  • Incumbent does not have direct financial authority.
Minimum QualificationsRequired Education and ExperienceAny equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job. Education and course work can substitute for years of experience. Typical qualifications would be:Experience:
  • Bachelor Degree (or higher) or 4+ years of professional work experience.
  • Must possess an ability to connect to SSMS, discover database objects, read views and stored procedures, document and read data flows and develop reports to specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to write SQL queries and develop SQL views or stored procedures.
  • Experience querying tabular models with MS Excel and SSRS
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of and experience with Power BI
  • Must be able to effectively and proactively communicate with the IT and business teams to gather technical input and understand output needed
  • Experience with SSRS report development
  • Ability to work autonomously, self-motivate and be accountable for work and performance
  • Ability to work well with remote/hybrid co-workers and subject matter experts
  • Creativity in simplifying and organizing visualizations with report content.
Preferred:
  • Experience understanding the connections of applications to databases.
  • Ability to create data maps
  • Knowledge of current state best practices in cloud computing platforms
  • Experience working with Source Control systems with databases and reporting objects
  • Experience with tools that help track and record hours of work.
  • Crystal reports experience

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
  • Work in an office environment with some hybrid work after initial employment period is successfully completed. Will sometimes be required to work and/or attend meetings or events in public and at all LTD locations on short notice.
  • Monday through Friday 8am until 5pm
  • Candidates required to live in Oregon or Vancouver, WA area.
  • This position is a full-time, exempt position, eligible for the regular administrative benefits package. The pay range is between $84,387.84 and $114,175.49 annually.
Travel
  • Travel within the metropolitan area is required.
  • Occasional travel outside of the region may be required.
