The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for the daily operations including but not limited to delegation and supervision of crews in task completion and quality control; provides supervisory assistance through direct responsibility for one or more construction or irrigation operations. You're more than welcome.**Starting location of the project will be in Augusta, GA, must be willing to travel**The Position:The Assistant Superintendent is responsible to perform a variety of hands-on manual labor tasks including staking/layout; provides direction and instructs crews; keeps track of inventory and materials; may be required to keep records and or draw as-builts; may supervise crews; performs additional duties as assigned by Superintendent. Golf Course Construction experience preferred, will consider applicants with commercial and residential experience. Looking for hard working, determined candidate with drive to train towards higher level Assistant Superintendent.Professional Requirements: * Performs staking/layout, erosion control, greens, tees, and bunker construction; drainage and irrigation installation and equipment operation.
  • Ensures jobsite equipment and property (owned and rented) is properly operated and maintained.
  • Manages work crews to ensure assigned tasks are executed according to budget, schedule, design, and specification requirements.
  • Performs tasks using best practice quality techniques and cost effective methods.
  • Provides on-the-job training to employees based on identified project needs or skill gaps.
  • Recognizes potential on-site problems and reports them to the Project Superintendent; performs corrective measures accordingly.
  • Routinely relays the progress of job crews to the Project Superintendent for project billing.
  • Performs work in a safe manner and in compliance with all Company safety standards and the directions of supervisors.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the work and success of the project and the Company by being solution-oriented, having positive interactions with all members of the team, and meeting quality, production and safety expectations set by the supervisor or Superintendent.
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * May have knowledge of golf course and or sportsfield construction tasks and execution sequence.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate rubber tire equipment such as tractors, loaders, and trucks to move land materials in close proximity to individuals on the ground; must be able to operate with precision.
  • Ability to operate rubber tire equipment such as tractors, loaders and trucks in non-stable soil conditions and non-level ground terrain.
  • Ability to distinguish between the physical properties of soils; knowledge of soil compaction methods.
  • Knowledge and ability to identify and perform preventative maintenance e. fluid levels, greasing of parts, changing filters; ability to identify performance and service needs.
  • Ability to understand and perform verbal and or written direction from the Project Superintendent or other leadership staff to complete job tasks to specifications.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply math i.e. percentages and square footage as it is used in the construction industry.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance consistent with the position.
  • Ability to move individual tools and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to walk entire job site and stand or walk for long periods.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic verbal instructions to meet quality and accuracy standards and to communicate effectively with team member and supervisors.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools and to lift, carry and operate various pieces of hand-held equipment.
  • Ability to use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Ability and willingness to follow all Company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
  • Demonstrates a sense of ownership in the work and commitment to the success of the project and the Company.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with fellow employees and supervisors and respect the rights of of others.
  • Ability and willingness to work in outdoor elements: hot & cold temperatures, rain, mud, dust, noise, sun, thick underbrush, etc.
  • Requires average 55-hour workweek and willingness/ability to travel; regular and timely attendance during all scheduled work days and hours is required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
