  • The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of fleet assets. They assist in developing and maintaining "Best Practices" in local shops, on-board and train new hires, and manage mechanics' continuous training. The Fleet Maintenance Manager works closely with the national and AMG Fleet group, acts as a subject matter expert (SME) within the maintenance field, and supports the Zone Director and other team members within the zone.
  • Drive continuous improvement through analysis of the fleet to include safety, customer service, & efficiency KPIs and be a source of contact from the field to help facilitate needs from corporate.
  • Meet or exceed all Airgas safety standards, policies and or practices at all times while developing and maintaining fleet “Best Practices” in local shops.
  • Responsible for overseeing equipment utilization for optimal equipment leveling at the site level, including working with central fleet and finance to oversee capital planning for equipment needs, managing lease turn ins within designated timelines, onboarding of all new equipment, and facilitating the trailer rehab schedule.
  • Lead and participate in monthly zone maintenance call and fleet maintenance mechanic call
  • Lead and ensure on time PM compliance at AMG and Dedicated Carrier Sites
  • Act as a SME within the Maintenance field when working with people within different regions or organizations/companies.
  • Contribute to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Fleet Assets by managing and facilitating fleet audits of Terminals against established Maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Coordinate and complete equipment audits through the course of the year, and keep records of those audits for future reference
  • Ability to interact with vendors, continuing to cultivate and nourish business relationships to coordinate the parts and operating component sourcing, refurb/repair diagnostics, assist with vendor negotiations, pricing, service and warranty repairs and coordinate vendor sponsored training and development structures.
  • Provide peripherals to coordinate local shop mechanic scheduling with Terminal Managers to reliability and efficiently maintain rolling stock to support customer service
  • Assist in on-boarding and training of new hires and managing mechanics’ tenured continuous training being able to celebrate individual mechanics successes and also the ability to make sensible corrections.
  • Observe mechanics working during site visits and recertify mechanics as needed.
  • Support the Zone Director and Fleet Management Director and other Maintenance teams and other team members within the Zone to achieve Airgas KPIS, goals, and objectives. Work hand in hand with the National and AMG Fleet group in all aspects of facilitating the maintenance program.
