Nature of Work***This job opportunity is not in the classified service and is not covered by the WV Division of Personnel merit system.***Performs complex administrative and supervisory guidance to the Social Services Department at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility. Effectively manages the Social Worker III and Office Assistant II positions. Provides services to meet the social and/or emotional needs that affect the residents' ability to achieve their highest level of psycho-social function; participates in the development of residents' comprehensive care plans; develop policies and procedures to provide social services to residents; and comply with all federal, state and local regulations and guidelines. Develop one-to-one professional relationships with residents and families as needed for counseling. Document psycho-social needs, interaction and follow-up actions with resident and/or family according to facility policies and procedures. Assess, plan and document residents' discharge needs in accordance with facility discharge planning policy and regulatory requirements. Coordinate family and community resources as needed to solve financial needs and to promote emotional security. Maintain nearly 100% census. Ensure Social Services explains resident rights to residents and/or their representatives upon admission and as needed. Participate in admission of new residents. Conduct or investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation and misappropriation of resident property. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner. Attend QA meetings and meet tasks required. Perform other related duties as directed by the supervisor. Harrison County

  • Supervise daily work of staff, train subordinates on applicable policies and procedures.
  • Develop acceptable standards of casework and supervise the maintenance of such standards.
  • Provide supervision of employees to ensure uniform application of all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of structure, functions, relationships, and practices of organizations as related to individual and family problems.
  • Ability to supervise paraprofessional and professional staff and to communicate with other public and private agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Minimum QualificationsTraining: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.ORSubstitution: Current West Virginia Social Work License.ANDExperience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a social worker ina public or private health or human services agency.Special Requirement: Eligible for Temporary Social Work License OR Licensed as a SocialWorker, Graduate Social Worker, or Certified Social Worker by the West Virginia Boardof Social Work Examiners.***Your complete work history is needed to qualify you for positions.
