  • Team member develops manufacturing methods and processes, investigates and troubleshoots manufacturing problems, and creates drawings and designs for special machines and fixtures
  • Investigates, establishes, and implements requirements for weld equipment, tooling, materials, or methods including preparing the necessary business case so a make versus buy decision can be made
  • Develops and implements optimal, cost effective welding processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards
  • Recommends and implements improvements to welding processes, methods, and controls
  • Helps plan, design, and detail floor layouts for efficient production
  • Responsible for the coordination of assigned projects from concept through final implementation. Assembles timelines and coordinates required activities to bring assigned projects to successful completion within timing and budget targets
  • Informs management on progress through formal project updates and formulate recovery plans to accommodate changes to timing or project scope

  • Assist quoting group with welding quotes, providing cycle times, capital equipment/tooling costs
  • Assist in FMEA development to highlight potential quality concerns
  • Design, follow up, start up, and prove out new welding equipment
  • Create WPS documentation of all welding job parameters
  • Create weld tooling set-up documentation
  • Order and organize welding consumables and standardize where possible
  • Assist sales and quality departments with customer concerns
  • Troubleshoot welding equipment and maximize machine efficiency
  • Train welding technicians and make recommendations for formal training classes
  • Develop approved supplier list for machine builds
  • Develop apprenticeship program for welding technicians

Education/Experience/Certifications:To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university preferred
Experience:
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Additional Skills Required:To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following skills are required:Computer skills:
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic office equipment
  • AutoCAD Inventor or 3D equivalent experience preferred
Communication skills:
  • Speak effectively with fellow employees or customers
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Mathematical skills:
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Other Skills:
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Knowledge of tool design and manufacturing flows/processes
  • Experience with automated welding equipment and automated welding processes; Fanuc, or Kuka preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T on engineering drawings
  • Fundamental knowledge in NDE and ability to categorize & quantify weld defects
  • Knowledge of weld destruct testing methods
