Lab Tech (Veterinary)Job Name: Lab TechJob City - Spokane, WAJob Location - Spokane, WALocation: Remote with on location dutiesHours Required: 5 Hours/weekCompensation: Volunteer (unpaid)Role Mission: Performs laboratory screening of blood, fecal or urine samples to determine treatment needed of rescued dogs.Job Summary: Path of Hope Rescue is seeking a skilled Veterinary Laboratory Technician or a candidate eager to learn and interested in veterinary medicine. The Veterinary Lab Tech will play a critical role in supporting our Medical Pack by performing diagnostic tests, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and distributing medications locally in the Spokane or North Idaho area.Job DescriptionSample Collection & Testing: Collection and handling of blood, urine, fecal, and tissue samples from dogs and perform diagnostic tests such as hematology, urinalysis, parasitology, and basic microbiology.Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable results.Record Keeping: Accurately document test results, maintain medical records, and communicate findings to Medical Pack and rescue staff.Health Monitoring: Assist in monitoring the health of rescued dogs by identifying abnormalities in test results and flagging urgent cases for veterinary attention.Inventory Management: Track laboratory supplies, reagents, and materials as needed.Safety & Cleanliness: Adhere to biosafety protocols, maintain a sterile lab environment, and properly dispose of biohazardous waste.Unique Company Culture and MissionOur MissionAt Path of Hope Rescue we save pregnant dogs and puppies from high kill shelters in the Southern United States.Our Spokane, Washington based Rescue strives to decrease the euthanasia rate of high risk dogs in the southern United States by transporting pregnant dogs and puppies to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive homes. We do not have a kennel or building location and are 100% foster based. We currently have two paid employees and rely heavily on volunteers and fosters as we work to build out our paid staff roles.Our Vision.
