- Conduct rigorous testing procedures on lab prototypes, new launch products, and test samples to validate their functionality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to coordinate the development and testing phases, ensuring seamless integration and timely completion of projects.
- Maintain detailed records of test results, methodologies, and any issues encountered during the testing process.
- Review any issues encountered during the testing phase and troubleshoot to determine an effective solution.
- Escalate complex issues to the Laboratory Supervisor and work together to troubleshoot.
- Analyze test data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement, and provide actionable insights to the development team.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure prototypes and new launch products meet the highest standards before moving to production.
- Maintain precision in conducting tests and documenting results.
- Analyze test data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Document test procedures, results, and reports. Ensure information is maintained in a central repository.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on testing outcomes and present findings to stakeholders.
- Stay current with various testing methodologies and validation processes. Research and keep apprised of new technology.
- Operate and oversee UGN’s prototype cell. Run the cell in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field related to the specific needs of the position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5+ years of related experience and/or training.
- Prior experience working in manufacturing at an automotive supplier is preferred.
- Prefer the following certifications (optional but beneficial):
- Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher)
- Certified Quality Technician (CQT)
- IPC or ISO standards training
- Must be proficient in various testing methodologies and validation processes. Understanding of testing protocols, validation procedures, and quality standards (e.g., ASTM, MIL-STD, SAE, various Automotive OEM specifications and norms).
- Knowledge of quality control standards and practices (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF_16949).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create a variety of reports.
- Strong project management and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and the ability to stay within budget.
- Ability to work well within a team and coordinate efforts across different departments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and propose solutions for a variety of issues.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. Familiarity with prototyping tools and equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 with emphasis on Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, charts), and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with Minitab or similar statistical analysis tools and familiar with the use of test management or equipment management systems (e.g., LabVIEW, GAGEtrak).
