Diverse, inclusive and welcoming cultureJob SummaryThe Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels to support operational efficiency and company profitability. This individual ensures that inventory is properly managed, available, and optimized for use across the facility.Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procedures to maintain adequate inventory levels
- Identify and optimize common inventory items
- Coordinate with team members to dispose of or sell obsolete inventory
- Conduct regular and timely inventory counts
- Audit facility inventory and prepare reports for management
- Train team members in cycle counting and inventory control processes
- File claims with manufacturers or suppliers for defective goods
- Instruct employees on proper return processes for defective materials
- Maintain a clean and organized returned goods area
- Stay current with evolving technologies, including inventory-related software
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and financial controls
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions and resolve problems
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask under pressure
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; strong reading comprehension
- Ability to collaborate across departments and maintain organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including running and analyzing reports
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate Degree in Business Management preferred
- 1-2 years' experience in steel manufacturing or warehousing preferred
- Familiarity with manufacturing inventory processes
