- Lead and manage a small team, taking full responsibility for its design, delivery, and operations.
- Perform and fully own software deployments across pre-production and production
- Support both new and existing products by troubleshooting, bug fixing, and driving continuous improvements to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Define and drive the technical, product, operational, and organizational strategy for your team's initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
- Prioritize team's work focusing on customer issues and requirements, ensuring solutions are well-defined, modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored, compliant, and reusable.
- Participate in Large Scale Events involving Service dependencies.
- Model and coach modern software engineering practices: leveraging data/telemetry, well-defined interfaces, design reviews, coding standards, code reviews, and comprehensive test coverage.
- Build a culture of psychological safety, honest feedback, open debate, and mutual respect within your team, empowering individuals through experimentation and creative problem solving.
- Mentor and grow the next generation of technical leaders in performance engineering within your team.
- Develop talent: guide new employees through onboarding, coach on job performance, give feedback, and suggest corrective action.
- Clarify performance expectations and establish specific, measurable goals and commitments.
- Set and uphold engineering standards for architecture, code quality, reliability, security, and operational excellence.
- Communicate proactively and effectively with all stakeholders, from engineers to senior audiences, providing status, identifying risks, offering mitigation strategies, and translating vision into actionable execution.
- Participate in team roadmap planning, including recruiting, hiring, and performance management.
- Advocate for change by clearly communicating business rationale and gaining employee support.
- Engage in hands-on management, including addressing customer issues, managing escalations, and deploying code aligned with change management procedures.
- Contribute to or author regular executive reports and action plans to senior management.
- Learn and adapt for new technologies in a high-pace environment.
- Typically has 0-2 years people management or technical lead experience.
- 5+ years of experience in BMC development for large-scale distributed systems, cloud services, or performance engineering.
- Deep expertise in Intel, AMD, and ARM CPU and NVIDIA/AMD GPU based architectures, including strong understanding of associated software components such as BIOS, Operating Systems, drivers, and utilities.
- Exceptional proficiency in C, along with strong scripting skills in Bash and Python.
- Proven experience working directly with hardware teams on BMC bringup and system debugging.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-organizational technical initiatives with business impact.
- Strong distributed systems architecture and design skills.
- Familiarity with core cloud infrastructure - compute, storage, networking - and their performance characteristics.
- Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and people management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services.
- Extensive hands-on experience developing multi-threaded embedded Linux applications/infrastructure in C for a variety of hardware interfaces, including PCIe, SPI, I2C/I3C, USB, UART, eMMC, PECI, and Ethernet controllers.
- Solid understanding of system management standards including IPMI, OpenBMC, SPDM, PLDM, Redfish, and MCTP, along with experience implementing and/or using them.
- Knowledge of Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) concepts.
- Experience in managing BMC development for cloud infrastructure with hundreds of thousands of servers.
- Experience in leading teams that have delivered successful products on a large-scale.
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
