This comes from years of experience in helping many of the world's most successful manufacturers with their new product launches, capacity expansions, and productivity improvement initiatives.Position Overview: Shipping CoordinatorThe Shipping Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods, materials, and products. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with multiple teams to maintain seamless operations. The Shipping Coordinator will oversee the shipping process, manage documentation, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards.Major Duties:
  • Preparing shipping documents, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, ensuring accuracy and compliance with international trade regulations
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of import/export/domestic logistics, including scheduling, documentation, quotes, and customs compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate preparation of export orders, including packing, skidding, and labelling of goods
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders and 3PL's to arrange transportation of goods and ensure on-time delivery
  • Maintain and update shipping records
  • Keeps updated on international trade regulations, customs procedures, and shipping trends to ensure compliance and recommend process improvements.
  • Improve efficiency and reduce shipping costs.
  • Resolve any shipping-related issues, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies, by coordinating with relevant parties and implementing corrective actions
  • Organizing/Setting up local pickups/drop-offs utilizing company vehicle or courier service.
  • Familiar with setting up UPS shipments and its software.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Responsible for SOX compliance documentation
  • Cross trained with receiver
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Assist with cycle counts
  • Material movement throughout the shop floor
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized receiving area.
Health and Safety:· Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures, as well as the safety requirements of our customers where applicable. Immediate reporting of any safety violations or concerns.· Ensure all applicable regulatory standards are met with regards to loss prevention, accident investigation, OSHA compliance· Works with team members to actively improve the safety of the plant.· Ensures that the work area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous or hazardous material.· Ensure safety action items are completed accurately and in time.· Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a keen eye for detail.· Excellent communication skills for coordinating with diverse teams and external partners.· Proficiency in shipping software, inventory management systems, and basic computer applications.· Knowledge of transportation regulations and logistics best practices.· Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain management is preferred.· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing prioritiesQuality:· Follow SOP's and ensure all products are manufactured to specifications.· Assists in the development of quality processes improvements and work instructions.· Work with team members to identify root causes of failures and implementation of corrective actions.· Works in accordance with product specification to ensure minimization of defects. Fixes defects and reports issues if occur.· All material and projects leave the facility in perfect condition.Productivity:· Ensure MPS dates are completed on time.· All packages and freight leave the building at the specific due date.· Ensure warehouse space is used optimally and kept clean and orderlyContinuous Improvement:· Participates in ABM initiatives and activities. (5S events, Kaizen events, weekly CIP meetings, problem solving, improvement projects, etc.)· Work with team members to provide input to improve process and workspace.· Provide feedback to your supervisor for process improvement ideas.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS· Logistics background- 5+ years· CCS and/or CES Certification a plus· Attention to detail· Time management· Knowledge of freight (NMFC Class, Harmonized Tariff Codes, Schedule B and HS numbers)· Microsoft Office· Use Forklift, pallet jacks, and hand trucks· History of using an ERP system· Excellent verbal and written communication· Ability to manage multiple priorities to achieve success· Good problem-solving skills· Strong planning, organization, prioritization, and decision-making skills· Ability and willingness to lift 25+ lbs frequently· SOX Compliance· Experience with international shipping is essential for this position, as it involves coordinating and managing shipments across global destinations, ensuring compliance with import/export regulations, and streamlining logistical processesPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT· Physical requirements:· Body Movements - the amount of time spent performing each physical requirement· Occasional: 1/3 or less· Frequent: 1/3 to 2/3· Continuous: 2/3 or moreDetails· Standing: Frequent to Continuous· Walking: Frequent to Continuous· Sitting: Occasional to Frequent· Lifting: Occasional to Frequent (ability to lift 50lbs+)· Carrying: Frequent· Twisting and Turning: FrequentWork Environment:· This position is based primarily in the production area and warehouse areas with occasional offsite or outdoor settings, as required.· Occasional exposure to local outdoor weather conditions which may range from 10 degrees and up to 100 degrees (Fahrenheit) for entering and leaving Company facility.The noise level in the work environment is low to
