- Reporting to the Director of International Education, the Assistant Director will collaborate closely with faculty, staff, and external partners to provide impactful, safe, and academically enriching international experiences.
- Promote study away opportunities through creative marketing, outreach campaigns, classroom visits, and campus events.
- Advise students on program selection, academic fit, financial planning, and travel preparation.
- Coordinate pre-departure and re-entry programming to ensure student success and reflection.
- Coordinate admission and course registration process of incoming exchange students and students in special programs.
- Serve as a resource to incoming and outgoing exchange students, supporting their transition and academic success.
- Lead the design and implementation of study away programs, including faculty-led, third-party provider, and exchange opportunities.
- Support faculty in developing new international experiences aligned with academic goals and student interests.
- Manage program planning, logistics, budgeting, risk management, and student support before, during, and after travel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor's degree
- 2 years in study abroad, international education, or program coordination.
- Ability to work with and communicate with (verbal and written) diverse constituents including students, advisors, faculty, program providers, and overseas colleagues.
- Ability to develop webpages and promotional materials (brochures, articles, social media, etc.).
- Expertise in, and ability to train others on, intercultural sensitivity and understanding of cultural competency, immersion, and adaptation processes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have the ability to use relevant database(s) and software.
- Occasional travel.
- Strong inter-cultural communication skills and a student-centered approach.
- Master's degree preferred in international education, higher education or related field.
- Proficiency in a language other than English and experience living, working, or studying abroad.
- Familiarity with best practices of study abroad.
- Familiarity with managing social media accounts and creating engaging content.
- Knowledge of visa and immigration regulations and processes that govern J1 visa international exchange students.
- Experience with program marketing, partnership development, and risk management.
