Principal Scientific Equipment Lifecycle ManagerSummaryThis individual contributor position will play a critical role for managing the complete life cycle of scientific equipment, end-to-end, assuming full accountability for the Research Laboratory Asset Management Program (LAMP) in Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED). Primary areas of accountability include forming and facilitating “fit for purpose” LAMP equipment and asset management strategy, managing LAMP budget (~$15M annually), supporting and providing input for purchasing decisions, facilitating installation of equipment, establishing and executing service and maintenance plans, and managing the ultimate disposition of equipment as appropriate.In addition, the role will require a high level of direct interface and customer engagement with both internal (Research staff) and external (vendors and other departments) customers. Interacting with various levels of internal and external customers from scientific staff to senior executives, the incumbent is expected to deliver effective collaboration, drive decision making with credible data-centric influence, successful negotiation and excellent customer engagement and partnership. The position reports directly to the Director of Research Operations.The OpportunityYou will build, facilitate and continuously evolve LAMP strategyManaging LAMP budget (~$15M annually)You will manage and administer the Genentech Lab Equipment Management database (gLEM) for gRED Research (utilized by ~1500 employees, of which ~800 scientific and lab head staff/users)​ Partnership and coordination with various Genentech and external service providers for all relevant lab equipment maintenance and service.Lead and manage contract negotiations, service provider relationships and budget.Assess and proactively address any equipment risk that may disrupt Research workflow to mitigate potential disruption.Drive continuous process and quality improvement relative to equipment service, return on investment, and value protectionYou will work independently with minimal supervisionProvide periodic leadership update on status of LAMPWho You AreBachelor’s degree in a scientific or relative technical disciplineMinimum of 8 years of professional work experience with a minimum of 5 years in the pharmaceutical or related industry.Demonstrated reputation and credibility as an effective collaborator and liaisonWorking knowledge of lab equipment utilizationExcellent computer, problem solving, and organizational skillsGood communication skills (written and oral)Please noteThe expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $143,100 to $265,700.. Annual actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
