- Directs: None
- Conducts constructions, operations and maintenance responsibilities.
- Assist in responding to all member outages so that service can be restored effectively and efficiently.
- Works within the safety rules and regulations adopted by the cooperative and in compliance with REA Specifications.
- Ability to perform rescue procedures.
- Assists in loading material required to complete work for the day.
- Inspects truck to be driven, assuring proper operating condition.
- Abides by all safety rules and regulations and knows what the rules and regulations are.
- Develops and exercises skills in conjunction with step classifications of the apprentice program.
- Serves on rotation for after hour calls.
- Minimum High School education, no prior experience necessary.
- Must have a Class "A" CDL license.
- Must be able to write in a clear legible manner with ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
- Must have a physical examination every two years and be issued a Medical Certificate certifying that you are physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle.
- Must pass written exam and actual on-the-job observation testing every six (6) months with a score of 85 or above to move up to the next step in the program.
- Must be able to perform rigorous physical demands and understand the responsibilities placed on the driver of a commercial motor vehicle.
- Must be physically qualified and possess sound judgment abilities to perform safety sensitive work.
- Ability to operate hydraulic equipment and perform maintenance on utility equipment.
- Ability to perform outdoors, in adverse weather conditions (extreme cold/extreme heat) for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend, stoop and stay on feet 8 hours a day and ability to work for extended periods of time in confined areas.
- Ability to use tools in rough terrain and to walk long distances over rough terrain for distances exceeding two miles.
- Ability to lift objects of various sizes and shapes weighing more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to climb structures and equipment more than 10 feet in height for the purpose of inspection, repair and evaluation.
