Software Engineer II (SQL)
Remote (CST or EST)
12- month contract
Pay Rate: $50.00 to $56.00 per hr.We are in need of a Software Engineer who oversees application development, modification, and maintenance of applications. This position monitors system applications, ensures systems run smoothly, and creates reports and other documentation outlining findings/solutions.Primary Responsibilities
  • Assists with the development and installation of new hardware and software
  • Installs and configures systems and other software
  • Tests installed software for malfunction detection
  • Identifies and resolves business systems issues
  • Designs and deploys new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operation systems
  • Measures effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems
  • Develops and implements strategies to improve systems
  • Monitors and tests system performance
  • Performs work with some independence of thought, but refers more complex problems to senior associates or supervisor/manager
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
  • 3-5 years of SQL experience
  • SQL Server Databases
  • Standalone queries: Writing and optimizing T-SQL queries.
  • Stored procedures & functions: Creating reusable logic in the database.
  • Scripting data and schema changes: Using tools like SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or Visual Studio to generate scripts for deployments.
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Development & testing: Building ETL packages in Visual Studio.
  • Deployment: Publishing SSIS projects to SQL Server.
  • Management: Handling SSIS components like:
  • Environments (via SSISDB or configuration files)
  • Packages
  • Projects
  • C# Scripting
  • Likely used within SSIS Script Tasks or Script Components for custom logic.
  • SQL Server Agent
  • Job creation & management: Automating tasks like ETL runs or report generation.
  • Debugging: Monitoring job history and troubleshooting failures.
  • Flat File Processing
  • Extraction: Importing data from CSV, TXT, etc., using SSIS.
  • Creation: Exporting structured data to flat files using SSIS.
  • Database Projects in Visual Studio: Managing schema changes using .sqlproj files.
  • SQL Server Tools in Visual Studio:
  • Schema Compare: Compare and sync database schemas.
  • Data Compare: Compare and sync data between databases.
  • GitHub Source Management: Version control for SQL scripts, SSIS packages, and Visual Studio projects.
  • Flat File Management in SSIS: Advanced handling of file formats, delimiters, and error handling.
