We are excited to announce we are now accepting applications for full-time, evening shift Nursing Assistants Certified roles at the historic Spokane Veterans Home!Please Note: Nursing assistants registered are also eligible to apply for this position. If hired at the NAR level, you will be placed into the position in a non-permanent capacity for four (4) months.*$5,000 Recruitment Incentive for all Qualifying Candidates!*Candidates must be hired into full-time, permanent positions to be eligible. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty-four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to honorably discharged Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families. As a Nursing Assistant Certified, you'll assist in the delivery of nursing and nursing-related care to vulnerable Veterans in need of skilled nursing care.   • Assisting residents with positioning, transferring and ambulation; ensuring a safe and secure work environment, including preventative infection control methods.
  • Responding to call lights, internal and external emergencies, and facility codes.
  • Recording care, vital signs and observations.
  • Assisting residents with personal clothing, belongings and equipment; bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, etc.
  • Assisting with therapies and treatment under the direction of licensed personnel; motion exercises as needed.
  • Accurately obtaining, recording vital signs and other resident data; documenting intake/output records.
  • Performing basic nursing procedures such as applying anti-embolism stockings, applying creams or lotions, collecting specimens, etc.
QualificationsRequired (NAC):
  • Current and valid Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification.
  • Current active status on OBRA (Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) check.
  • Capable of lifting up to 60 lbs. frequently using proper techniques, capable of reaching for activities such as repositioning or to gain access to supplies, and is capable of pushing or pulling with sufficient strength. Employee must be able to walk, sit, and bend in an unrestricted manner on a consistent basis during the entire work day.
  • Report to work on a regular and timely basis.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read and write in the English language for medical charts.
Also;
  • Ability to perform data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to provide a positive living environment for residents relating to meeting psychosocial needs; follow written and verbal directions; document and report observed changes in patient condition and behavior.
Required (NAR):
  • Current, valid Washington State registration to practice as a nursing assistant registered.
  • Must be able to obtain a Nursing Assistant Certified credential and active OBRA status within 4 months of hire.
Preferred/Desired:
  • Accurate methods and practices to assist residents with activities of daily care, personal hygiene, sanitation methods, record keeping, reporting changes, infection control procedures and residents rights.
