
Sr Portfolio Manager IT - Infrastructure & Risk

- Partner with IT, Business and Transformation Office leadership to manage assigned portfolio intake including assessing, prioritizing and resourcing in alignment with portfolio and business goals.
- Create and maintain portfolio roadmaps to effectively communicate and align complex dependencies, sequencing of work and resource staffing.
- Manage portfolio pipeline view of all governance approval activities for all initiatives within assigned portfolio. Ensure clear visibility by leadership and risks to activities.
- Oversee total portfolio budget view and manage monthly financial CapEx and OpEx forecasting and accruals process. Oversee and provide guidance to Project Managers to track and maintain initiative-level financial budgets and forecasts.
- Develop clear view of project benefits and timing for value delivery, rolling up to a total portfolio benefits view.
- Manage issues, risks and dependencies within assigned portfolio and across portfolios.
- Ensure all SOX compliance activities are executed per policy.
- Partner with enterprise change management to ensure organizational readiness to operationalize strategic programs.
- Plan, allocate and manage resources effectively to meet portfolio goals.
- Continuously analyze and optimize resource capacity (including people, financials, tools) using demand/supply forecasting techniques to minimize resource constraints for portfolio efficiency
- Conduct impact analysis on resource capacity due to changes in the portfolio and any subsequent recommendations.
- Lead monthly portfolio review meeting with IT leader and Directors.
- Ensure initiative reporting is tailored to the appropriate audience, coach Project Managers on submissions, and ensure all critical updates are provided in a timely manner.
- Measure and monitor the portfolio performance against strategic priorities and business goals.
- Drive adoption of and ensure adherence to PMO processes, standards and PPM tools.
- Create, maintain and improve project portfolio management practices and tools to drive a cohesive approach for consistency and efficiency
- Improve IT’s ability to leverage agile ways of working at scale by adapting traditional portfolio and project management (PPM) techniques to agile delivery methods
- Establish solid relationships with Business, IT and Transformation Office leadership and help them to articulate the technology needs that will advance business performance
- Build and manage a high performing team of program and project managers by defining clear roles and effectively assigning responsibilities to achieve portfolio objectives
- Provide coaching and support for execution excellence and team development
- Establish clear performance objectives with Strategic Portfolio Delivery team and monitor progress against agreed quality and performance criteria
- Hold teams, leaders, stakeholders and self accountable to delivering expected outcomes through skillful communication, influence and negotiation skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, CIS, MIS or equivalent. Master’s degree a plus
- 5+ years of experience managing IT project portfolios in blended Agile and traditional PPM environments delivering strategic and complex programs in a fast-paced environment
- Expert project portfolio management skills including planning, estimating, cost-benefit analysis, tracking, resourcing, value delivery/benefits articulation, and change management
- Strong experience in execution of highly integrated programs that build on individual projects to drive a larger, integrated outcome
- Strategic mindset and ability to take lead on the roadmap, in collaboration with IT and Business leadership
- Resource management experience in a matrixed organization
- Project management and Agile certifications (e.g., PMP, SAFe, CSM, CSPO, etc.)
- Experience with modern PPM tools such as Planview, JIRA, etc.
- Skilled in coaching and mentoring program and project managers
- Highly collaborative with proven ability to build relationships across IT and Business stakeholders
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, including ability to share ideas and information across diverse audiences to drive to business decisions.
- Able to partner with and manage 3rd party providers to deliver maximum success.
- Understanding of Lean and Continuous Improvement
- Retail industry experience
- Highest level of integrity and good judgment
- Minimal travel required (training/conferences)
