Function/Duties of PositionThis position is for a technical research assistant in the Oregon Center for Aging & Technology (ORCATECH) at OHSU as part of a team of researchers and technical staff who work together to create tools and systems for assessing changes in memory and motor function in the elderly, using unobtrusive in-home sensor systems. This person will maintain the equipment for the ORCATECH studies including (but not limited to): setup and configuration of systems for studies; maintain and troubleshoot issues in existing in-home systems in ORCATECH participant homes, maintain and organize equipment, ship equipment, assist with tests of new equipment. This person may also help to explain and consent participants into research projects.*Please include a cover letter with your resume and application.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's in relevant field, OR Associates in relevant field AND 1 year of relevant experience, OR 2 years of relevant experience, OR Equivalent combination of training and experience
Strong computer skills (including Microsoft OS and productivity software)
Critical thinking skills and the ability to learn and integrate new information quickly
Ability to speak and communicate clearly
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism
Ability to interact patiently and respectfully with elderly volunteers
High level of responsibility and ability to work independently
Ability to prioritize work demands and manage time appropriately
Organizational skills and ability to multitask
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with elder populations
Technology support experience
Research experience; familiarity with research methods
Bi-lingual (Spanish)
Additional Details
Typical schedule: 8-5, M-F
Work location: At OHSU offices including HRC and/or MNP
Ability to travel via personal vehicle to participant homes within the Portland Metro area
Work schedule may vary depending on job/study/center requirements
Occasional evenings or weekends local travel may be needed
May have regular exposure to noise and interruptions
Ability to carry and lift up to 40 pounds
