We are seeking a seasoned Geotechnical Department Manager to lead a dynamic team in geotechnical engineering.This role is pivotal in overseeing project management, team development, quality control, and supporting growth initiatives for the department. Based in the scenic South Daytona area, known for its outdoor attractions and vibrant coastal lifestyle, this position offers a unique blend of professional challenge and location appeal.Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the end-to-end process of geotechnical engineering projects, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and safety protocols.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, including geotechnical engineers, geologists, project managers, and technicians.
  • Conduct technical reviews for project proposals, reports, and calculations to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Manage department financials, including budgeting, revenue tracking, and forecasting.
  • Set performance goals for the team and facilitate skills development through training and mentorship.
  • Support senior leadership in business development efforts through client engagement and community involvement.
  • Foster a positive department culture, aligned with company values and focused on high employee engagement.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 10+ years in civil or geotechnical engineering with a proven record in leadership, budget management, and business development.
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and P&L.
  • Client Engagement: Demonstrated experience in client relationship-building and business development.
Educational Requirements:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on geotechnical studies; active Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license, or the ability to obtain licensure within three months of hire.
