Position Summary:Serving the Homewood community, Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is a 595-bed acute-care hospital located in Birmingham, Alabama.The Women’s Medical Center provides comprehensive women’s services through all stages of life, including gynecologic surgery, maternity care, and labor and delivery services. Reviews preferences and verifies the case cart thoroughly before the procedure.
Maintains an orderly surgical field and consistently passes instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
Anticipates and prioritizes the needs of the various steps associated with the procedure.
Takes part in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure.
Maintains surgical specimens in a manner that identifies and preserves them for pathology evaluation.
Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
May have limited access to areas where medications are stored.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Practices efficient use of time and supplies.
Maintains a clear, safe, and organized work area.
Qualifications:Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of Surgical technology training program, or Baptist Health or Orlando Health Training Program, or an accredited physician assistant programLicensure/Certification Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.Experience 1 Year of Experience
