If you live in Ward 1 and get hired, we are offering a $300 hiring bonus to be paid in 30 days of employment.About our CompanyThe Director of Sales is responsible for directing the hotel sales team in achieving the rooms, food and beverage revenue goals as laid out in the hotel Marketing Plan as well as taking responsibility for all rooms sales, solicitation of new business and implementing sales plans to support the overall strategy. This position reports directly to the General Manager.The person having this position must possess good communication skills, have the ability to resolve conflict and have a thorough understanding of LINE policies, procedures and expectations.Because of the fluctuating demands of the company’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employee is expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed.Responsibilities1. Respond to internal and external Sales inquiries or requests and provide assistance as needed2. Redirect Sales related calls or distribute correspondence to the appropriate person of the team3. Act as a liaison with other departments or functions (Operations, Front Office, F&B, etc.)4. Lead the recruitment/hiring process by sourcing candidates, performing background checks, assisting in shortlisting, issuing employment contracts etc.5. Schedule meetings, interviews, Sales events etc. and maintain the team’s agenda6. Coordinate training sessions and seminars7. Together with the Director of Revenue implement the agreed rate structure and strategy for all market segments8. Lead all sales activities for Sales Managers and ensure that they meet their sales goals9. Establish and maintain effective employee working relations both within the department and with other departments10. Attend selected trade and travel functions, i.e. trade shows and local Hotel and Convention Association meetings to promote sales and image for the hotel11. Plan and where appropriate, execute sales trips to major market areas and report new potential market areas that should be covered12. Analyze and review market changes with the Director of Revenue and implement programs with the Sales Team to meet these changes, i.e. changes to the group and transient segments, inflation, or competitor initiatives13. Maintain close relationships with all key decision-makers both in local and international markets14. Organize and accompany familiarization site inspection trips with major clients15. Regularly entertain major clients of the hotel16. Maintain a high level of exposure for the hotel in the major marketing areas through direct sales solicitation, telephone and written communications17. Ensure up-to-date Delphi Sales and Catering profiles18. Explore new markets and potential accounts for follow-up by Sales Managers19. Pay regular visits to all major accounts20. Analyze and evaluate client production with Sales Managers and implement sales action plans21. Provide feedback and market information to General Manager and Regional Director of Sales on changing market conditions, including trends on the competition, as a result of direct sales solicitation, telephone, reading material and interaction with competitive hotel staff22. Implement all sales and marketing action plans in the Marketing Plan23. Propose and initiate, new services and products for our guests24. Work in conjunction with the Director of Revenue and Regional Director of Sales to ensure accurate forecasting is completed monthly25. Work in conjunction with the Director of Finance and the General Manager to develop and present the annual budget26. Monitor and review the Sales incentive programs monthly27. Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructions28. Maintain “open door” communication with employees29. Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash control30. Responsible for interviewing, selecting, training, guiding, managing and scheduling personnel31. Monitor and develop employee performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision, conducting counseling, evaluations, setting annual goals and delivering recognition and reward32. Ensure staff understands their job expectations before holding them accountable33. Maintain awareness of documentation needed and retained in employee files34. Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements35. Attend relevant meetingsKnowledge, Requirements, Skills1. Four-year college degree preferred2. Must have a minimum 3 or more years’ experience in hospitality sales at a Director of Sales or Associate Director of Sales level to be considered.3. Market knowledge preferred4. Strong experience in Group and Catering Market preferred5. Proficient in use of Excel, Word, Delphi and access database tools.
