Patrols garages, lots, and street parking areas on a daily basis for parking policy violations and unsafe conditions.
Monitors vehicular traffic in House parking areas.
Assists the United States Capitol Police with Member and staff recognition.
Assists Members or staff with vehicle emergencies.
Assists in the issuance of new Congress parking permits.
Assists in training new Parking Security staff.
Provides assistance in maintaining Parking Security and Sergeant at Arms official vehicles.
Provides assistance in maintaining inventory of uniforms, radios, supplies and equipment.
In the absence of a supervisor, incumbent may be called upon to exercise judgment on requests for temporary parking permits for House staff and visitors.
Assists with special events as needed.
Assists staff and visitors with directions and parking-related inquiries.
Operates technological devices and electrical equipment required to perform duties.
Provides a briefing to incoming staff prior to the end of each shift.
Performs other duties as assigned.
RequirementsConditions of employment
Must have three or more years of experience relevant to this position.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be able to successfully pass a criminal history records check.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Incumbent must have the ability to maintain a professional and courteous work disposition, work well under pressure and display good judgment;
Must possess leadership and organizational skills;
Must be able to complete an approved training course(s) administered by the Sergeant at Arms Office;
Must have a valid driver's license;
Must have the ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles;
Must be able to physically perform all duties to include lifting objects up to 50 pounds; standing for periods of up to 2 hours, and walking distances of up to one-half (½) mile.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, permanent. Monday - Friday. Hours will be consistent with the day shift (6:45 AM - 3:15 PM) or evening shift (2:30 PM - 11 PM).
