
ISP Engineer II

- Create detailed engineering plans and drawings for transport/access networks and peripheral 3rd party touch points for Central Office, Hut and Cabinet environments.
- Interpret general network diagrams and site survey information to determine placement of new equipment, parts
- Create engineering work packages (Work Specification Package) including scope of work, material lists,
- Ensure that all designs meet customer standards.
- Provide support to field installation and turn-up teams as networks are installed and turned-up to answer questions,
- Perform/coordinate onsite site-surveys for projects.
- Keep project team apprised on project awards and engineering status/delays.
- Research manufacture documentation on specific equipment to ensure the proper equipment is ordered and then explain how to install the equipment.
- Communicate with management and provide work status updates daily.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate's/Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science or related field preferred.
- 4+ years of OSP/ISP working experience required.
- CCNA or comparable Data Network Certification a plus.
- Working knowledge of Ethernet, IP, FTTx, ATM, xDSL, T1/T3 or GR-303 required.
- Demonstrated ability in the practice of taking field notes required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general knowledge with AutoCAD or Visio required.
- Strong understanding of various engineering practices and procedures required.
- Optical network design and implementation experience required. Specifically: metro access (backhaul over
networks(10/100G).
- Knowledge of current architectures being deployed (metro Ethernet/LTE) and MPLS over DWDM and GPON required.
- Working knowledge of the following customer-specific systems a plus:
- Working knowledge of the Cisco/Ciena product portfolio or similar telecom equipment/technologies a plus.
- Must have a desire to learn new skills, practices, etc., and keep up with technological changes.
- Must have a sound knowledge of the layout of Central Office and Remote equipment.
- Must have demonstrated organization skills and be able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
- Must be able to work alone, and with a team
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
- Frequent walking, standing, sitting within the work area.
