You’ll help provide a child-centered, play-based curriculum, which reflects best practices in the industry.Sonnets Academy is seeking kind, imaginative, and experienced individuals for a Part Time Assistant Teaching positions. This warm and patient individual should have creativity and lots of passion for the field of Early Childhood Education.Our Part Time Assistant Teachers are professionals that nurture young minds while maintaining a happy, healthy and safe environment. On a daily basis our Part Time Assistant Teachers support and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans to children 6 weeks to 6 years and foster open communication with parents about progress, schedules, and individual achievement.Responsibilities and Duties
  • Support and help implement developmentally appropriate curriculum to foster a play based and structured environment
  • Help facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safe peer interactions throughout the day
  • Maintain a safe, organized classroom that supports each child’s independent learning
  • In collaboration with Lead Teacher, prep the materials needed to implement the activities
  • Documents daily reports for each child on classroom app for parents
  • Meet the needs of the whole child and support the social and emotional growth of all children
  • Follow supervision, mentorship and instruction from Lead Teacher for the purpose of providing an effective and efficient classroom environment and addressing the needs of individual students
  • Attend and participate in age group team collaborative meetings, whole staff meetings, classroom team meetings and cross age group team meetings
  • Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with children, parents, staff and community members by communicating in a respectful, courteous and confidential manner
Qualifications and Skills
  • CDA, Associates Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (educatiion in process for Interns)
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for 6 weeks -to-6 year olds
  • Experience implementing curriculum lessons for toddler age group
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Proof of up to date physical, TB Test, and immunizations
  • Food Managers License or Food Handlers Training Certificate
  • Must be a team player and eager to work with others
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Positive and proactive communication skills
  • One or more years of professional experience in an early childhood classroom
  • Be open to continual professional development in the field of early childhood
  • Must meet and follow all City and State licensing requirements
  • Salary dependent on experience and level of education
  • Monday - Friday 12pm-6pm (time will be discussed in interview)
