Responsible for fabricating cores by forming and annealing slit core steel to produce a finished core ready to be assembled into a core/coil assembly.Job Responsibilities
- Efficiently manage work centers, including core former, deblock, georg, and tranco.
- Follow production schedules to ensure timely execution of core manufacturing processes.
- Set up and operate core wrapping machines, adhering to strict specifications for core items, such as steel width and grade.
- Load rolls of core steel onto the dereeler and wrap cores on the mandrel to meet precise dimensional requirements.
- Mark cores with required identification numbers and securely place a steel band around the circumference.
- Form and insert “end” and “side” plates using core forming machines during the annealing process.
- Follow established procedures (VOP) for window dies and wedges, ensuring consistent core quality.
- Scan units into the SAP system and load trays onto Automatic Guided Vehicles for transport to the annealing furnace.
- Follow deblocker VOP to move trays of cores between conveyor lines and furnaces.
- Skillfully remove and stack plates into bookcase bins, organizing them by ID number.
- Inspect and test cores meticulously to ensure they meet rigorous quality standards.
- Complete associated paperwork accurately and confirm each order using a scanner.
- Oversee and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols to guarantee the safe deactivation and isolation of equipment, ensuring energy control procedures are correctly applied to prevent inadvertent machine startup or hazardous energy discharge during repair or maintenance, in line with OSHA regulations and organizational safety guidelines.
- Safely operates overhead cranes and hoisting equipment to move materials, components, and finished products within the manufacturing facility.
- Actively participates in problem-solving processes, contributing to efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Achieves and maintains target production rates or output levels, ensuring efficient operations and meeting organizational goals.
- Adhere to safety protocols, ensures efficient material handling, housekeeping practices (5S+), and company policies and procedures.
- Perform other manufacturing duties as assigned.
- No education required
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions as required.
- Ability to operate industrial equipment and hand tools.
- Lift up to 40 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, grabbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and using both hands to lift and lower materials, with or without accommodations.
