  • Creating customer benefit by applying our products in new applications
  • Identifying new opportunities with a broad product portfolio - requires technical savvy and creative mindset
  • Applying modern techniques to reassess product performance to enhance our value proposition / extend our product relevance
  • Generating ideas on product improvements / adjustments to make a positive impact for customers
  • Driving the successful identification and implementation of new and replicated applications with our products
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams—marketing, sales, technical functions in R&D, and at customers
  • Approaching people with an open and curious mind to dig fast into the topics
  • Comfortable with building new connections and networks
  • Ability to deal with large data sets and apply new digital tools to further analyze product features and performance
  • Supporting global 3M teams utilizing this product portfolio
  • Contributing to developing strategic products and/or application and customer roadmaps
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Material Science or Science field (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of technical service, application/product development or similar role translating customer needs into technical product performance criteria in a private, public, government or military environment
  • One (1) year of hands-on laboratory work experience such as mechanical property testing and analytical testing
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Master's degree in engineering or science discipline from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years of technical service, application/product development or similar role translating customer needs into technical product performance criteria in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Skills include strategic and out-of-the-box thinking
