This position will work on an on-call, as needed basis for snow removal operations and vacation coverage.Pay Rate Information:The Airport Worker is a non-union position, and starting pay is $17.87/hour. This position is eligible for step pay increases within our Top end of the current wage scale for this position is $22.63/hour.Benefits with this Position Include:

Essential Job Functions:An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. * Performs inspections, maintenance and repairs on airport facilities, buildings, grounds equipment, and vehicles.
Operates fuel truck, stationary fueling equipment, and fuels aircraft. Ensures that clean fuel is delivered to aircrafts by monitoring and testing fuel on a regular basis.
Performs daily inspections and quality control on fueling equipment.
Provides radio communications and general support for airport customers.
Moves aircrafts utilizing aircraft towing equipment as needed.
Opens and/or closes the terminal building for daily operations, which includes buildings, grounds, parking ramp inspections, and security.
Mows lawns and performs snow removal on airport grounds.
Issues notices to airmen on critical items such as snow on the runway or airport construction.
Assists customers with making rental car arrangements, catering, and hotel accommodations.
Accepts payments for goods and services customers receive.
Provides services to aircrafts and airport facilities on a 24-hour basis as needed.
Performs other duties as directed.

High school diploma GED and one year of progressively more responsible experience in grounds/maintenance.
The County, at its discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.
Michigan Vehicle Operator's License.
Good working knowledge of the principles and practices of airport maintenance.
Considerable knowledge in performing a variety of maintenance activities for airport facilities, maintaining airport grounds including snow removal, fueling a variety of aircrafts, ensuring a clean fuel supply and providing a variety of customer service needs to aircraft personnel and passengers.
Skill in assembling and analyzing data and preparing accurate reports.
Skill in effectively communicating ideas and concepts orally and in writing.
Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with County employees, contractors to the County, representatives of other governmental units, professional contacts, elected officials, and the public.
Ability to assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergency situations.
Skill in the use of office equipment and technology, including some knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications.
Skill in the use of specialized airport equipment such as fuel trucks, lawn and snow removal equipment, aircraft tugs, and aircraft ground power units.
Ability to respond to emergencies or service needs on a 24-hour basis.
