Job Description:Schmidt Construction, part of the Edw. C. Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Screed Operator to work at our Colorado Springs, CO location . The Screed Operator adjusts a mechanism on the back of a paver which determines the depth, slope, and width of asphalt laid.Pay: $28-35Shift/Schedule: 7am-5pm Nights & WeekendsBenefits

ResponsibilitiesThe Screed Operator:
Places asphalt at the correct grade and slope, according to job specifications.
Performs daily machine inspection and routine greasing, oiling, and fueling
Communicates with office and field personnel
Inspects grade and elevations correctly
Maintains cleanliness of equipment
Assists maintenance personnel with repairs
Keeps records
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
SkillsThe ideal candidate will have:
Ability to read stakes and check grades
Knowledge of materials
Basic mechanical aptitude
Ability to communicate well with co-workers, customers, and other departments
Ability to read and write
Minimum 3 years paving experience
Valid driver license
Physical Requirements
Lifts up to fifty (50) pounds
Sits, stands, and walks for extended period of time
Occasional pushing, pulling and/or prying
Good visual acuity, depth perception and eye-hand coordination
Climbing on, in to and out of equipment
Able to detect differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness
Works in environment with noise and temperature variations
Operates motor vehicle
