You may be the right candidate for this or other roles within the organization.What you will be doingThis position is responsible for researching and documenting the accounting impact of accounting transactions in accordance with US GAAP and Statutory financial reporting requirements. Additional responsibilities include maintenance of accounting policies to ensure compliance with accounting standards, vouching of financial transactions, performance of quarterly and annual controls owned by Accounting Policy, and ad hoc projects as assigned.Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Research, analyze, and document the appropriate accounting treatment for transactions as they pertain to new or existing GAAP/Statutory accounting requirements in the form of technical accounting memos; present findings and recommendations to management and external auditors.
  • Collaborate on the implementation of issued U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory accounting standards to determine the accounting policy, financial statement, and disclosure impact.
  • Assist with coordination and documentation of Disclosure Committee Working Group activities.
  • Update and maintain corporate accounting policies to ensure compliance with relevant standards and changes to the regulatory environment, as well as changes to internal processes.
  • Assist in the performance of Financial Reporting controls and processes owned by Accounting Policy team to ensure GAAP and Statutory financial reporting requirements are met for COSO and MAR control compliance.
  • Complete special financial project work as needed or required.

RequirementsWhat you need to be successful
  • Three years minimum experience in accounting and/or auditing with knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting standards
  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting
  • Technical accounting skills
  • Insurance accounting experience, preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant, preferred
