Our hospitals provide life-saving medical treatment, advanced critical care, and compassionate support to patients and their families.We pride ourselves on maintaining a collaborative, respectful, and supportive environment where veterinary technicians are empowered to grow their careers, elevate their skills, and make a real difference in the lives of pets and people.This relief role is dedicated to Emergency and ICU departments only, with flexible opportunities available across both hospitals.Compensation: $25-$33/hr; inclusive of shift differentials and experienceRelief technicians are required to work a minimum of 2 shifts per month, with no maximum limit on the number of shifts.About YouAs a Relief Veterinary Technician, you will play an essential role in our ER/ICU team. You bring a strong foundation of technical skills, a calm presence in high-pressure situations, and a commitment to compassionate, high-quality care. You are collaborative, adaptable, and thrive in fast-paced environments.Qualifications
  • Current LVT/CVT/RVT license (IL highly preferred-not required)
  • Emergency/ICU experience preferred
  • Strong anesthesia, triage, and nursing care skills
  • Knowledge of infectious disease, CPR, and critical patient monitoring
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Role Responsibilities - ER/ICU Relief
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to critical and emergency patients.
  • Triage incoming cases and assist with stabilization and monitoring.
  • Perform advanced anesthesia induction and monitoring.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, CRIs, oxygen therapy, and assist in post-operative care.
  • Accurately complete and maintain medical records.
  • Perform and interpret in-house diagnostics; prepare and submit samples for reference testing.
  • Support clients with clear, compassionate communication regarding patient status and discharge instructions.
  • Use safe, fear-free handling techniques while maintaining a clean, organized treatment area.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and peers to deliver seamless emergency and ICU care.
