- Scheduling QC technician to ensure coverage for proper production support, equipment calibration, product traceability, raw material and product sampling and testing, and other special projects.
- Training and development of QC leads and QC technicians to ensure that they fully understand food safety and quality systems programs and SOPs.
- Assist in the implementation of new policies and procedures, and lead efforts to improve quality methods, equipment, SOP, and working conditions.
- Investigate quality and food safety issues that may arise during shift
- Maintain input to information systems that provide quality data/KPI to various teams. Compile, analysze, and communicate quality and food safety related information to mangement team.
- Participate in and support plant and lab programs to promote safety and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Directly supervise and responsible for hiring, training and continuously assessing the laboratory staff.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and sanitation to resolve Quality issues. Review, approve, or follow-up on HACCP paperwork.
- Provide Quality, Food Safety, and GMP training.
- Support post sanitation and pre-operational inspections.
- Assist with product traceability. Participate in root cause investigations related to internal quality concern and customer complaint. Work with responsible parties to ensure all quality and food safety concerns or complaints are addressed in a timely manner with proper corrective and prevention actions.
- Ensure all quality and food safety programs are being followed on the production floor by regularly auditing the production areas. Lead daily and/or weekly plant GMP inspections, trend findings and follow up with various departments to ensure corrective actions are carried out properly.
- Ensure that the company's hold and release program is properly implemented, including placing defective raw material, reprocessed, and finished goods on appropriate QC status. Work with management team to ensure timely disposition of hold materials and conduct hold verifications.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
- Serving as the backup for the QC Manager.
- Preferably 7+ years' experience in Quality Assurance/ Food Safety/ Regulatory environment within the Food and/or Fresh Food industry, accompanied with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Experience leading and implementing a successful quality assurance program.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead through influence with multiple levels of leadership.
- A minimum of a four-year equivalent degree in chemistry, microbiology, food science, or other related technical degree is required, advanced (Masters) degree preferred.
- Experience leading internal and external audits.
- Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification and implementation experience preferred.
- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification is required.
