The ideal candidate should have previous secretarial experience in a fast-paced, confidential office. If you are detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task in stressful situations, this position is for you. We strongly encourage all qualified individuals to apply.Job Responsibilities
  • Serves as secretary to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Keyboards complex charts, documents, forms, memoranda, and letters.
  • Organizes and maintains complex filing systems for correspondence and security personnel.
  • Serves as clerical support to the Administrative Major / Unit Manager.
  • As a receptionist answers the phone.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately 45 words per minute.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working as a secretary providing office support and assistance in a fast-paced private or public organization.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience composing complex and confidential correspondences and/or documents.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience organizing and maintaining a complex filing system.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience utilizing Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook, or similar software.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of working experience in a correctional setting.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience serving as a receptionist in an office setting that includes answering telephones and routing calls to appropriate entities, opening, sorting, and distributing mail, responding to inquiries in person and/or electronically, and ordering office supplies.
  • Prefers the ability to multi-task.
  • Prefers the ability to independently prioritize assignments.
Conditions of Employment
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
