- Responsible to retain and renew all certifications required for Fleet Maintenance Mechanic B as listed within both the job description and related skills matrix.
- Cleans, inspects, makes adjustments, and performs other preventative fleet maintenance tasks as required or scheduled.
- Responds to emergency equipment breakdowns and makes necessary repairs in a timely manner.
- Has basic knowledge of fleet equipment operations and is able to read and understand equipment literature (i.e. OEM manuals, diagrams and schematics, recalls, and tech bulletins, etc.).
- Disassembles and assembles fleet equipment as required to perform repairs and preventative maintenance. Installs and overhauls fleet equipment as required. Duties may include but are not limited to the following: complete engine rebuild to tune-up, brake re-conditioning, suspension repairs, replacement of seals, alternators, starters, clutch, transmissions, differentials, etc. Repairs will be performed on air compressors, cranes (My-Jacks), front end loaders, forklifts, autos, pickups, manlifts, tractors, trailers, mixer trucks, generators, etc.
- Complete and maintain inspection reports, fill out equipment logs, execute preventative and corrective maintenance reports, document materials usage, maintain time entries, etc. which may include computerized maintenance records and paper records.
- Detects and reports improper operation, defective materials and unsafe conditions. Maintains equipment, storage, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follows all company, local, state, and federal safety rules and regulations.
- Commits to the continuous improvement process and serves as a role model.
- Maintains an understanding/working knowledge of the HCG evacuation plans/procedures.
- Adheres to Company policies pertaining to attendance and tardiness
- Performs other duties as requested or necessary to meet business conditions or changes.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Automotive school completion required (Diesel, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Electronics).
- Basic math and ability to interpret manuals, drawings and schematics required.
- Basic SAP knowledge preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required
- CDL Class A Endorsement preferred (or ability to obtain within 1 year)
- Automotive AC (freon R12 and R134A) certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 1 year)
- State Vehicle Safety Inspection License preferred
- Class 7 State Inspection License preferred
- Diesel mechanic Certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 1 year)
- Welding Certification preferred
- 10 Hour OSHA course preferred
