Charleys Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving educational opportunities for children with limited resources. Through our signature program, the Children’s Tutoring Initiative (CTI), we provide in-school literacy tutoring to help elementary students who are reading below grade level build the skills needed for long-term academic success.Position Summary
The Youth Mentorship and Curriculum Specialist is responsible for designing and implementing a structured mentorship program, developing training materials, and ensuring effective coordination with schools and community partners. This role involves adapting literacy interventions, preparing youth mentors with the tools to support early readers, and fostering a positive, inclusive environment that promotes both leadership development and student achievement.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Design & ImplementationDevelop and implement a structured, multi-week mentorship program to prepare high school students to serve as reading tutors.Establish clear program guidelines, participation criteria, and application processes for youth mentors.Coordinate schedules with school administrators to align tutoring sessions with school calendars.Training & Curriculum DevelopmentCreate and facilitate engaging training sessions for youth mentors.Identify, evaluate, and adapt short-format literacy interventions appropriate for youth-led tutoring.Provide mentors with instructional resources and strategies to support early readers effectively.Program Evaluation & AssessmentCollect and analyze program data, including surveys, feedback, and literacy progress benchmarks.Report findings to CTI leadership to guide continuous program improvement.Establish and maintain assessment systems to monitor student outcomes.Partnership & CollaborationCollaborate with teachers, school leaders, and CTI staff to ensure successful program delivery.Build supportive relationships with participating students, families, and community partners to encourage engagement and retention.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, Literacy, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing educational or youth development programs.Knowledge of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment practices, particularly in literacy.Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.Commitment to equitable educational opportunities and youth development.Why Join Us?Make a direct impact on student literacy development and youth leadership.Be part of a collaborative, mission-driven organization.Opportunity for professional growth and autonomy within Charleys Kids.
