Job Band: ProfessionalSummaryThe primary purpose of this position is to work with the Director of Social Responsibility, Product Development, Product Safety and other business partners to develop and implement product compliance policies and procedures to ensure Carhartt complies with all relevant national and international regulatory and product safety requirements. The role will work with and support a variety of departments outside of Product Development to develop strategies based on their risks related to product and regulatory compliance (Product Safety, Quality, Licensing, Marketing, Sourcing, Procurement, Distribution, Customer Service, EMEA, and Corporate).We are All Leaders at CarharttIn our words and by our actions, we strive to emulate the hardworking example set forth by our founder, Hamilton Carhartt.   • Partner closely with Product Development, Advanced Development R&D, and other business partners to develop, implement and oversee regulatory compliance processes for all Carhartt products from concept through production, to include textiles, chemistries and finished products.
  • Coordinate with Product Development and Product Safety teams to develop and conduct on-going communication and/or training on new laws and changes to existing laws for internal staff and suppliers.
  • Provide support and validation on interpretations of regulatory requirements to Product Development and other business partners by tracking changes to key national and international laws and regulations that could have a potential effect on Carhartt's products or business practices.
  • Assist Product Development, Product Safety and other business partners in the development of risk based policies and testing/validation plans for the development and ongoing manufacturing of Carhartt products, including providing support on labeling, reporting or other documentation needs.
  • Integrate with Merchandising, Product Development, Advanced Development R&D and Licensing teams to provide research and advice on legal requirements and testing requirements to support product claims at the earliest stages of development.
  • Work with department leader and cross-functional business partners to develop and implement a long-term strategy on how to best integrate regulatory compliance processes into Go To Market (GTM) process utilizing defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Engage directly with state, federal and international regulatory agencies to seek information or alignment on regulations, while also influencing future policies directly or through industry associations.
  • Provide support as needed to Product Safety, Product Development or other teams on product failures by assisting in root cause analysis or by working with outside labs/experts for analysis.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Required in Engineering or Related Field
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of eight years of related work experience in regulatory product compliance, product safety or related field is required, preferably in the apparel/textile industry.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with US and international textile laws and regulations, with knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) laws and regulations preferred.
  • Understanding of textile and apparel product performance technologies and related laws is preferred (e.g. AATCC, EPA/FIFRA, EU BPR, FTC, ASTM, ANSI, etc.).
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, with the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organization
  • Must demonstrate high level problem solving skills and have a strong ability to take concepts and strategies and put into documented processes and policies, while also implementing with business partners.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload
  • Computer knowledge is required, specifically in Microsoft Office related programs.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Travel (20%)
  • Willing to work some weekends if necessary
  • Remote location: Associate will have no regular requirement to be on-site. Travel on-site is limited to special events.
