- Establish and maintain a suite of in-house and vendor-supported market and power system simulation tools.
- Conduct simulation and optimization studies to support performance assessments and policy/design evaluations, including market power and root cause analyses.
- Perform benchmarking, scenario modeling, and stochastic simulations, collaborating with team members to prepare and validate input datasets.
- Evaluate simulation outputs, produce insightful reports, present findings to stakeholders, and automate workflows to improve efficiency and reproducibility.
- Design, implement, and maintain dynamic dashboards and data visualization tools to support simulation and market monitoring reports.
- Create visualizations that highlight patterns, trends, and outliers in large-scale energy market datasets.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines, perform ETL operations, and conduct data cleaning and integrity checks across diverse data sources.
- Collaborate on cloud-based machine learning projects and document technical specifications to recommend new tools for improved performance and architecture.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
- Solid understanding of electricity market design and power system operations.
- Experience with power system simulation tools (e.g., PLEXOS, AURORA, GE MARS).
- Knowledge of optimization techniques and experience tuning models using solvers such as CPLEX or GUROBI.
- Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, R, SAS, MATLAB, and/or GAMS.
- Experience with SQL and developing and maintaining relational databases and large datasets.
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms (e.g., Shiny, Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience working with a Unix/Linux environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to present technical insights to non-technical audiences.
