The person selected for this position will perform a variety of responsibilities for the financial operations of the McCrary Institute. Essential Functions
  • Performs routine day-to-day accounting and financial duties to include (but not limited to) prepare, examine, code, and process financial transactions; reviews and verifies documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Oversees all functions and personnel concerning sponsored program administration, purchasing, procurement, and payment compliance with university policy. Assists in the creation and evaluation of key performance indicators for the McCrary Institute, and establishes and maintains a system of quality control for administrative and operational effectiveness.
  • Assists in the administrative management of McCrary Institute accounts as well as external contracts and grants by monitoring budgets, employee labor allocations, coordinating change orders, time extensions, budget reallocations; and financial reporting from inception to close-out. In conjunction with Engineering Administration staff, leads Institute pre-award efforts by coordinating with Auburn and external agency personnel, developing grant proposals and budgets, and advancing proposals with the appropriate awarding agency.
  • Supports the tracking, monitoring, and analyzing the McCrary Institute budget; Reconciles accounts and provides recommendations for management actions to ensure budgets are not exceeded; Reviews, investigates and corrects errors in financial entries, documents, and reports; ensures departmental and McCrary Institute leadership are informed regarding any and all financial issues or anomalies that may arise.
  • Prepares, reviews, and/or analyzes the McCrary Institute's quarterly endowment management statements including budget-to-actual and year-over-year actual variances; unrestricted reserve reports; and other reporting.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of data and databases; Gathers information and prepares various reports and correspondence; collects and analyzes data to provide reports on a regular basis. and as needed.
  • Prepares professional financial reports for bi-annual Board meetings.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
A MBA, MA cc, or CPA can be substituted for the specific degree.Experience: 4 years of experience in reporting, financial analysis, and budgeting within a large organization. Experience must show progressively increasing levels of responsibility and accountability.Minimum Skills, License, and CertificationsMinimum Skills and AbilitiesCandidate must have the ability to organize, prioritize work, and handle multiple tasks. Having interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated knowledge of financial management, the ability to successfully work both independently and in a team environment, and proficiency in Excel are critical. Must be able to build and maintain positive relationships with others in administrative offices across campus. Knowledgeable of financial accounting procedures and is comfortable preparing, examining, and analyzing transactions and financial statements as this position will have an accountant directly reporting to them. Experience must show progressively increasing levels of responsibility and accountability. Ability to multitask. Proficient in Excel.
