  • Processes applications to the medical staff in accordance with hospital specific bylaws and regulatory standards.
  • Prioritizes applications in the queue to assure timely processing and approval by leadership groups.
  • Maintains the Medical Staff Credentialing database and interacts with external databases.
  • Secures documents for primary source verification.
  • Produces and replies to general correspondence. Prepares files for medical staff leadership review, identifying “flags” in the application.
  • Processes requests for temporary privileges and reappointment applications.
  • Tracks all expirables (licenses, registrations, etc.)
  • Notifies various departments and units of new providers.
  • Responds to verification inquiries concerning current or previous medical staff members. Interacts on a regular basis with applicants (physicians and allied health), medical staff leadership, regulatory agencies, and healthcare facilities.
  • Maintains and can communicate a thorough knowledge of the medical staff bylaws.
QualificationsEducation:Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferredExperience:
  • 3-5 years experience in a hospital administrative support role
  • 3+ years experience with medical staff credentialing strong preferred
  • Willing to obtain CPCS certification within one year
