The Platform Engineering group is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer / Cloud Architect to ensure the successful delivery of a Private Cloud Infrastructure for one of our premier programs on site at our Aurora Colorado Campus Location.As the Principal Platform Engineer / Cloud Architect, you will be supporting the program as a Sr. technical contributor within a multi-disciplined team through our system modernization efforts to address cloud resource optimization, focusing on the program's cost model savings initiative. Additionally, in this role you will serve as a member of the Architecture team working closely with Program and Customer Management teams to streamline schedules, Monitor ICITE efficiencies, create and review related design documentation for the program.Responsibilities :
- You will support Financial Management & Analysis of the system through:
- Monitoring and analyzing AWS cloud spending across accounts and services
- Implementing and maintaining cloud cost management tools and dashboard / alarms
- Maintaining the cloud cost forecast for the fiscal year and support forecasting future cloud expenses
- Monitoring ICITE Efficiency Metrics. Manage annual exception requests.
- You will provide Technical Optimization of the system through:
- Identifying and facilitating execution of cost-savings opportunities through resource optimization
- Optimizing instance sizing, Reserved Instance purchases, and compute savings plans
- Establishing and documenting cost optimization / best practices
- Identifying and eliminating unused or underutilized resources
- You will Provide Stakeholder Management by:
- Collaboration with component architects and chief architects to design cost-efficient solutions
- Interfacing with program leadership on cost optimization strategies and reporting
- Act as a Liaison to AWS TAMs to facilitate AWS support to program cost optimization efforts
- Coordination with SETAs relative to cloud cost and ICITE related activities, including quarterly RI purchase recommendations
- Bachelor's degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and ten (10) years of systems engineering experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Deep understanding of cloud technologies and services: Familiarity AWS
- Cloud Architecture and Design: Experience in designing and implementing cloud solutions, including network architecture, security, and high availability.
- Cloud Management and Monitoring: Experience in managing and monitoring cloud environments, including resource utilization, performance, and security.
- Cloud Security and Compliance: Knowledge of security best practices and compliance regulations.
- Experience with DevOps practices: Understanding of automation, infrastructure as code, and other DevOps principles.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues and optimize cloud solutions.
- Communication and collaboration skills: Ability to work effectively with stakeholders and explain complex technical concepts.
- Requires current CompTIA Sec+ (or equivalent) Certification.
- Experience with cloud migration: Knowledge of migrating applications and data to the cloud.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration: Familiarity with technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with database administration: Knowledge of database systems and their deployment in the cloud.
- Programming and Scripting: Proficiency in languages like Python, Java, or other scripting languages.
