Clinical Research Assistant I, BWH Infectious Diseases and Global HealthThe Brigham and Women’s Hospital Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Research Assistant I to work with a BWH Principal Investigator on projects related to global health, including HIV and tuberculosis infection among children, in partnership with collaborators in Africa and across the United States. Our research is focused on addressing gaps in the diagnosis, care, and treatment of children with infectious diseases in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Current studies focus on treatment optimization, drug resistance, and diagnostics implementation and development in collaboration with US and African scientists and clinicians. The position is hybrid, with some flexibility regarding the time on site.Working under the general supervision of BWH Principal Investigator Holly E. Rawizza, MD, and in collaboration with colleagues in the US and at international sites, we are looking for a hardworking, independent, detail-oriented candidate who is interested in contributing to the varied aspects of conducting clinical research in LMICs. The RA will assist in study protocol development and implementation, data management, coordination of study activities, and logistics. This position is grant-funded.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The exact roles and responsibilities will vary and may include:Research Coordination· Assists the Principal Investigator (PI) and study staff in implementing sponsored clinical research studies, both internally and externally.· Takes leadership in project management of each study, keeping the PI and collaborators updated regarding study status and ensuring proper follow-up of pending project tasks.· Assists the PI and collaborators in preparation of research activities, including literature searches, reference database management, and reviewing and drafting text for reports, manuscripts, abstracts, or grants.· Works closely with research management to ensure grant resource flow, including timely submission and execution of invoices, subcontracts, and agreements.· Coordinates research team meetings, including drafting meeting agendas in collaboration with PI and recording meeting minutes.Human subjects regulatory affairs· In collaboration with the PI, assists with the preparation of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other regulatory applications.· Ensures appropriate tracking of Human Subjects/IRB protocols, including US and international sites, to ensure timely renewals and/or amendment submissions as needed.Data management· Assists PI in the development, organization, and/or maintenance of study databases, including electronic laboratory notebook utilization.· Works with international sites to ensure timely uploading of data to electronic laboratory notebook.· With the guidance of PI, compiles data for data analysis.· Reviews data collection practices to ensure compliance with study protocols.Logistics· Assist with study supply procurement through an institutional purchasing system.· Coordinate supply shipments to international sites as needed.· Assist with travel coordination, as needed.All other duties as assigned.QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. or B.A. with strong science background.
  • New graduate with relevant course or project work
  • Sound independent judgment and competence in research methodologies.
  • Ability to commit at least one year of work with a strong preference for two years or more.
