and budgetary constraints. The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in driving project success and maintaining client satisfaction through theirexpertise and leadership. Work with the Project Manager for successful project execution.The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Prepare, design and review engineering construction plans, drawings, and specifications for various water resources projects. Types of projects include assessment / design of drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, flood mitigation, stabilization, restoration.
- Develop hydrologic and hydraulic studies for floodplain, drainage improvements, climate resiliency, flooding, dam breach analysis, stabilization, restoration.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information and ensure project compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Design and prepare deliverables for multiple water resources projects simultaneously, ensuring successful completion within defined timelines and budgets.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and feasibility studies.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams to obtain necessary information, permits, approvals, and clearances for project execution.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff. Perform quality control review of delegated work.
- Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in engineering techniques and technologies.
- Communicate and collaborate with clients, team members, and stakeholders to understand project requirements, scope, and objectives.
- Utilize strong organizational and scheduling skills to effectively track project progress and deliverables, providing regular updates to project stakeholders.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring client satisfaction, future collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required (or ability to obtain within 6months of hire).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering or related engineering field.
- Experience with ArcGIS and HEC-RAS preferred.
- Experience with MicroStation and/or Civil 3D AutoCAD preferred.
- Experience with InRoads and/or OpenRoads preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing engineering plans, reports, design standards, permitting and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational abilities, with a demonstrated track record of managing multiple projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, hybrid office/remote environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Plan, develop, coordinate and direct projects or engineering programs.

- Serve as task manager of select projects.
- Mentor and train staff.
- Comply with all KCI policies and procedures.
- Ensure projects comply with ISO standards.
- Conduct employee performance appraisals, when applicable.
- Develop professional relationships through active participation in industry associations and community involvement.
- Identify and assist in attracting talent to KCI.
- Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting project scope.
- Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters.
- Work with the Project Manager to actively manage project budgets.
- Achieve or exceed budgets individual utilization targets.
- Conduct site visits and gather data.
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Review and approve shop drawings.

- Proven experience in project management roles, with a track record of successful project delivery.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Master’s Degree
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
