Staffs bio -metric screening sessions, conducts screening tests and documents results. Researches, plans, assigns, and delivers programming. Acts as a resource to non-RN Healthcare Advocates regarding medical/clinical assessments and referrals.Job Duties include the following, other duties may be assigned:
  • Plans, coordinates and participates in bio-metric screening process.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development to provide education appropriate to the age of the individuals served.
  • Prepares presentations and teaches wellness programs as required.
  • Ensures that education materials are timely, accurate and consistent with current guidelines established by national organizations, such as the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and National Institute on Health.
  • Maintains documentation and statistics including: screening results with historical comparisons, participation, counseling activities, referrals and ancillary activities. Reports screening comparisons annually as necessary.
  • Maintains client confidentiality.
  • Coaches employees on healthy lifestyles, providing direction, education, and goal setting to aid in improving the overall health of the individual. Utilizes bio-metric testing results as a basis for coaching individuals. Utilizes department approved education, standards, and health programming to achieve goals.
  • Rounds to departments/companies as necessary to deliver elements of programming and to follow up on individual's progress as required. Travels as necessary.
  • Advises and instructs employees regarding physical fitness, exercise regimens, and various fitness activities. In some cases will demonstrate proper use of fitness equipment. Will advise on proper technique to achieve best results. Will caution and advise individuals to seek approval of their family physician regarding participation in activities.
  • Advises and instructs employees on proper nutrition and healthy diet. Provides education and resources regarding nutrition based on department approved education and research.
  • Works with multiple risk factor employees to address issues related to metabolic syndrome and the potential health complications associated with this condition. Makes appropriate referrals. Educates and counsels on impact to health.
  • Utilizes nurse training/expertise to refer employees presenting with symptoms of various medical issues to appropriate providers.
  • Works and consults with Medical Director regarding program content.
  • Trains and educates non-RN Healthcare Advocates regarding common health issues that may present through interactions and screenings and how they should direct referrals. Trains and certifies staff in CPR basis life support.
  • Administers flu shots, draws blood, takes vital signs, and performs hearing tests, vision testing, pulmonary function testing, and bone density testing as required.
What You Will Need
  • Requires an AS or BS in Nursing.
  • A minimum of two years of healthcare programming is desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must have an active RN license in the state of Indiana.
  • Membership in related organizations such as American College of Sports Medicine, Association for Worksite Health Promotion, National Wellness Association, and Wellness Councils of America are preferred but not required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
