- Retain and motivate the staff; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles, document and discipline, as appropriate.
- Maintain and conduct and preventative maintenance program on all structures and equipment
- Develop, recommend, implement and manage the division’s budget capital expenditure plan, forecasts and objectives consistent with maintaining a first class property and management’s expectations.
- Develop, implement and manage a maintenance program and negotiate maintenance contracts for the hotel, the grounds and all of the equipment in compliance with hotel and corporate standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to ensure the safety, convenience and satisfaction of all guests, manager and employees to protect the assets and maintain the property in first class condition.
- Develop, implement and direct all emergency programs; ensure all equipments is maintained, conduct inspections and drills, ensure compliance with all codes and regulations, train all employees and maintain accurate records to ensure a safe environment which protects the assets, guests and employees.
- Develop, implement and manage an energy conservation program for property to minimize expenses.
- Coordinate renovation bidding, define the cost and scope of the project and oversee the general contractors and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed for a minimal cost.
- Prepare weekly work schedules
- Assign duties and work responsibilities to staff members
- As a senior member of the management team, participates in various meetings representing the Engineering department
- Actively participates in the monthly Safety Committee meeting to help ensure safety for all guests and associates.
- Requires advanced knowledge of building management/engineering. May require considerable working knowledge of other major areas in the hotel and the skills to integrate and communicate information.
- Requires analyzing activities and/or information involving some original data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions.
- Requires management skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of department expenses to include but not limited to labor, energy, materials, contracts
- Ability to provide information and associated services to hotel management and guests.
- Must be able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying of weights up to 25 lbs. and occasionally greater, for all hotel equipment and machinery
- Frequent bending and/or kneeling throughout the day for repairs and maintenance of hotel property, equipment and machinery.
- Mobility throughout the hotel, all floors at times.
- Continuous standing required in varying degrees throughout the day
- Periodic climbing of stairs and ladders
- Driving on an occasional basis for supplies, equipment, etc
