Position InformationThis is a Department Promotional Examination and is open to eligible employees of the Kern County Public Health Department who have successfully completed their initial probationary period and received an overall rating of standard or better on the last employee performance report.Exam Schedule:
  • Oral Exam - Qualified candidates will be notified of the testing date five days prior to the examination.
Examination:
Oral Exam (Weight 100%) Will be conducted for the purpose of appraising the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position.The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant an oral examination. Should an oral examination be necessary, the oral examination will be weighted at 100%.Applicant's must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.Examination components for promotional testing will be administered during scheduled date(s)/time(s)/location without exception.Minimum Qualifications / Employment StandardsTwo years of experience as an Emergency Medical Services Coordinator for the County of Kern.ORBachelor's degree in Health Administration, Public Administration or related field and four (4) years of experience in the pre-hospital emergency medical care field.Required licenses:Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License.Possession of a valid paramedic license issued by the California EMS Authority is required.Must obtain current Kern County paramedic accreditation prior to completion of the probationary period. * Must be able to work on-call during department supported EMS responses.Applicants must attach the following to their application.
